Hey, I'm Austin 👋
A design leader who still designs
Born and raised in Kentucky, I'm a self-taught designer who dropped out of college to pursue a passion. I had founded a nonprofit to fight human trafficking, and it was growing quickly — and required a lot of design work. Following that success, I went on to channel my love for design into a startup, then joined HubSpot in the early days to help establish its design practice and scale the product to $500M+ ARR, and eventually made my way to Google where I designed and launched things that are being used by more than 3.5B people around the world.
Today, I lead the design organization for Square’s suite of e-commerce products which support hundreds of thousands of businesses and generate $250M+ in ARR. Along the way, I’ve lived and worked in places like Boston, Rio de Janeiro, San Francisco, and now Austin. I’ve spoken at 50+ global design events, co-host a couple of podcasts, and am fortunate to work daily alongside brilliant people.
I take pride in building products that people love to use, and teams that people love to be part of.
